i like it man, it could even go under the
topic of how to ratify a beetle good to see some one being
different

Sam
You certainly did wreck Your Beetle...
and why wasn't the "W" deck lid on Your oval?? painted yellow
I mean.....
Well, the "der nueburg Volks Klub" won't have many members
with cars like that showing up on "SHOW & Shine "days....
I think You got it ALL wrong Sam.....
You should have called Your club the
"Rat look car club" and then the other 3 beetles could have
stayed at Home......

I forgot to say that I don't like ratty
look anything......
Do a car up and You get praise, do a car down & You go down with
it....
Everyone knows It takes time & money to keep a car nice & shiny
& detailed...
It takes nothing to look like a RAT....
If You want to be a RAT... go right ahead..
I won't be looking at Your car.....

beholder.
and i mean who could blame someone wanting to be an individual rather
than a soldier of the conformists army.

well said, i fully agree!
my idea of rat look is a car that has been dragged out of a
shed/barn/field/swamp.... and simply made driveable, not cleaned or
painted or messed with at all apart from road worthiness
requirements......and maybe some wheels and a motor
the idea of changing parts around to 'create' a rat lok car doesn't
quite make sense to me.
kai
p.s. my opinion is not intended to cause offence to anyone, it's just my
opinion.
twoguns - 16-2-2004
at 07:18 PM
the idea is to have 'your' expression of
ride. not the general concensus. certainly makes for a more entertaining
car show when you have dubs with all sorts of finishes and qualities.
not the 'gfk' style where all cars are done to the same format. not
there is anything wrong with that concept either. it is also an accepted
part of our community. rats, cal look, stock, german, and of course the
piece of shit daily driver. they are all equal in my book.
what to you see the next evolution of bus80y. i am sure many will not
agree, but it is mine.

Bring your rats over to the shiny side.
Come to the Paint & Body forum and respray your pan, paint that body
with a super gloss, rechrome and retrim everything.
Trust us, trust us, trust us.

Dude, it wasn't directed at anyone
inparticular. Just making an observation, this guy is showing his pride

The rat look is super individual. I think
it is the best way to express your individuality without mega mega
bucks.
I appreciate the work that goes in to making the car look as balanced or
possibly unbalanced look as possible.
I suppose if you see a beetle painted in the newish Ford Blueprint
colour, you can go and get yours done the same.
A rat can't be copied.
Keep up the good work.
I must be a bit like my cat. I like shiny things too.

*punts helbus back to the shiny side*
people.... this is a RAT forum.
go for it VWFOOL
Don't be tempted by the minions of gloss and retrimming
"the farce is strong in this one.."
I like the rusted with chrome look, body straight, dumped, diff panels,
paint worn thin, and perfect chrome that says "i made it this way
on purpose". the clincher is an insanely hot motor, and mebbe one
accessory, like a bazooka. or ICBM on the front seat.
might have to go lob a bucket of paint stripper over at the paint and
body peeps.... brb
(have you ever met those old people who sit and watch the dreadful
programming and immoral pornographic tv shows they hate, hour after hour
after hour; seems silly, huh?)

yeah you might take the piss out of the
rat look, but when sam turned up at the euro day and everyone was
standing around the ferrari all chubbed, all the attention turned
straight to the rat, oh yes!, at that exact moment I knew who would take
out the peoples choice award!. it was like mosses, everyone just parted
which led him down to the german display! but when he got out and put
the "Admire but dont touch" sign on his window, you know this
rat was here to impress! lol ! Just needed the spider webs on the wheel
arch sam, but you know that you got my vote!!
Peter Leonard -
18-2-2004 at 11:11 PM
we rats are lean, mean, and dirty. not
like the soft, overfed housebroken ones over there in the shiny area
in fact, I have already been on a raid, bandit style, and have returned
unscathed with my loyal posse bwahahhahha!!!
all jokes aside, helbus is doing a very shiny job over there in the
paint and body section, and may even inspire me to replace some bits.
with rusty ones
Helbus - 18-2-2004
at 11:23 PM
Well I suppose if you see anyone who is
going to replace panels with super straight clean ones, make sure you
grab the scraped and mismatched coloured ones. Even the ones that have
had small repairs and primer patches.
I would consider it a form of recycling?
Yeah?
Peter Leonard -
19-2-2004 at 02:09 AM
Actually that's a good idea. give all
your rusted panels up. people need them.

well people it seems we have some
"pretty boys" here all for shiny beautifully coloured cars!!!
i myself love sams car it looks sweet gives it a period look and who
knows it might turn people to this dark side called "rats"
keep the ratting going!

Jeebers Lee, do people say to you that
you wrecked your car cause you painted your engine red and yellow? It's
YOUR car, so you do with it as YOU please..
So what is so different with Sam.. I think you need to broaden your mind
a little.
Sam, nice job brother.. Probably not something I would have done, but
that doesn't mean that it both doesn't look mad or is a bad thing..
These cars will attract attention people, and if you don't think so, you
wait and see..
With it or against it, it is simply an expression of ones car, so who
are we to criticise? Each to their own.. How boring would it be
otherwise?

firstly,
as most of u can see, this post started as a little bit of fun, nothing
to be taken too seriously. im glad some of u had a laugh.
whilst i certainly dont feel the need to justify myself, it is MY car
(and remember, its ONLY a car), and i can do as i please.
likewise, this is an open forum, and u can say wat u please.
but wat i will say is this.
everyone on this forum whose opinion i respect and wanted to hear
from has responded in a friendly and supportive manner, and i couldnt be
happier with the response.
as for the hater(s), take a good look at ur own backyard b4 u go dissing
mine, to not like somethng is fine, but some comments r below the belt.
im starting to think maybe in future i should be more vocal about my
opinion on other people's projects i dont like or respect.
this is my first post that i hav seen cop some ridicule, this place has
been friendly to me so far. i just wonder wat would hav been said if i
told u about the 1916 and narrowed front beam...
have fun guys

Our bus and our beetle both sorta started

Boozer - 1-3-2004

Dude when I saw this I couldn't beleive
it. I fell of my chair laughing!
don't take it the wrong way, I was laughing because it was such a
brilliant idea carried out so well and the responses of some people were
classic. Good on Ya for not going with the crowd and trying to stand out
and be different. I love the rat look as it is totally unique and cannot
be replicated, unlike all the shiny, stock standard cars that stand in a
row at shows and all look the same and bore me zzzzzzzz...but if that's
your thing go for it!
and as you said you shouldn't have to justify your actions to other
people but if you be different you usually have to do so. I've had to
justify my baja to people (VW people mostly but not always) who've
started to get real snotty about how I wrecked a nice early 60's bug to
make a horrible green THING...
...which by the way was the way it was when I got it and it has
obviously had a minor ding in the front before the baja conversion. Once
again Congrats on being a individual and being prepared to stand out!
You RULE!
